In phoenix we had a youth group, it was called outcrowd. Filled every saturday night, we met in a little community center in Gilbert, AZ. We had services, leadership meetings throughout the week and cells (kinda). Looking back, we really didn’t know anything at all.

But we had SOMETHING. What was that something? We sure didn’t know anything. But almost on accident, we started to come together, and we would worship. God was doing something in the hearts of the youth…. maybe not every person, but He sure did something in me. We got into a habit, I got into a habit of WORSHIPPING JESUS…

We loved to worship… NO you don’t get it… like WE FREAKING LOVED TO WORSHIP GOD!! With all of our hearts, to all hours of the night, WE WOULD WORSHIP AND WORSHIP AND WORSHIP!!!! After a leadership, we’d stay til midnight, worshipping Jesus to a DVD.. Nothing else to do on a thursday night? He Jared… lets go grab the church trailer, and set everything up, and have a worship night tonight… lets get the projector, the speakers, lets set it up at a house… ANY HOUSE.. invite anyone we can grab.. and let’s worship Jesus tonight… we’d come up with crazy ideas dreaming of crazier ways to worship Jesus, with generators in the back of pickups, running out to the desert to have an all night worship date with Jesus.

Like I said, we didn’t know much, but without knowing it the power of God was showing up, healing hearts, loving on all of us there. In my time in outcrowd, those nights were some of the most powerful, and memorable times. My worship wasn’t a time before a service or before a cell. But my worship was love relationship with my father God.

I’ve been hit by this pretty hard tonight, I’ve been worshipping to a hillsongs DVD for the past 30min, just crying out to God.. I need his help sooo bad.

I thought it a little weird when Ps Ricardo said on the video chat during Week of Fire 2008, that we need to praise and worship everyday. I thought it such simple and easy advice. But let me clarify, that doesn’t mean throw a CD on and hum along on your way to work/school. This morning, I had a Jeff Deyo CD on, I listened to it, felt good… but my heart didn’t connect with my fathers heart… nothing changed.. the CD turned off, and my brain went right back to whatever else I was thinking of.

But tonight, time spent alone, focused on Jesus my heart connected with my father. Immediately the promises of my devotional were repeated back to me, and I was being ministered too by the Holy Spirit.

Theres basically two types of worship as I can see it… the kind where you change, and the kind where you don’t. Press into Jesus, don’t let your worship become bland and mindless. Worship Father God… He loves you, with His arms stretched out, He’s waiting to see you coming. He’s excited for you to come, and you know what… I’m pretty freaking excited to worship some more!!!
